Welcome to 2018 guys, I am so so excited that this upgrade has been done and has kick started in this new year. I have missed you all, and now I can be with you all through the year.
So, its a new year, and as has become customary, many of you will be starting out by setting new goals or reinforcing older ones for yourselves. All the same, I want you to know that even though it is done merely out of routine for most of you (**smiles**), setting goals and also planning ahead for the whole year is a very important step in determining how much you will be able to achieve this year.
This is the reason why so many persons, remain more or less the same year in, year out without effecting much change in their lives. So, to cut the long story short- I'm going to be sharing with you why you should set goals for yourselves this year and also how to do this, I know 'y'all be seeking the more effective methods' (**winks**) gotcha!
So here it comes........
WHY SET GOALS?
Firstly, a goal is, simply put, something you want to achieve within a specified time!
(You see, easy as pie!). And it is important because, one, YOU WANNA GET BETTER, and not remain the same for a prolonged period, that's right! Nobody wants to be stagnated in life, we all want more money, more clothes, good food, a larger pay cheque, a good body and the list goes on and on. With this said you see why setting a goal is important- it is your stepping stone in realizing your dream.
Secondly, research has shown that people who set goals and make plans and work towards them are more organized generally in life, so if YOU WANT TO BE MORE ORGANIZED then, you want to, you need to start setting goals for yourselves, your families, your businesses and careers!
Here's the next one,
Setting goals help you to be MORE IN CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE!
Have you noticed how some people just don't have anything to contribute in a meeting or how they are always saying yes to everyone and everything? I have. Most times, the reason is because they have no plan for themselves, they usually leave the planning to others to do for them, now kids are exempted in this scenario since they are more likely to be dependent than independent. But for an adult? NO, NO, NO!!!! It is highly unacceptable. You need to have control over your own life, this is the only way you can make meaningful achievements.
Lastly, setting goals help you KEEP TRACK OF YOUR LIFE, yep! With goals you can record your progress as well as your failures.
And here comes by bonus tip, setting goals GIVE YOU AN EDGE OVER EVERYONE ELSE!! You will discover that more and more people become attracted to you, when you set goals!
Moving on,
HOW TO SET GOALS
What not to do-
Do not set VAGUE GOALS; your goals should be measurable, that is quantified, especially by using numbers, or time frames. Example, do not say "This year I will change my wardrobe." Instead say, "This year, I will buy two new sets of clothes, a pair of shoes, and a bag every month, for the next twelve months and add to my wardrobe" or say, "This year, 10% of my salary would be used to expand my wardrobe each month". Note the difference!
Do not set UNREALISTIC GOALS; now you don't want to jump way overboard, take it one step at a time. I know we all have big dreams, but you don't just move from a few hundred zeros in your bank statement to seven figures overnight, such stuff takes time, hard work, and commitment. And know this, if you can start then you can also finish, but be gradual in the process alright?
Do not share your goals with NEGATIVE PEOPLE; as much as possible, avoid having a negative circle around you, as this tends to pull you down instead of uplifting you. Surround yourself with positive people who will encourage and motivate you towards achieving your goals.
Do not KEEP IT TO YOURSELF; as much as possible talk about your goals to others and I mean the positive others, it helps increase your determination and gives you a higher sense of responsibility. I know you wouldn't want to let anyone down, especially those you tell.
Alright, this will be all for now, I know you guys have been reading a lot about this lately, I just thought to add these few tips to your reading list. So, thank you for reading and feel free to leave your comments below as well as share this post with everyone you know.
